For most people, flu is not a nice illness, but it’s not serious. If you are healthy, you will usually get better from flu within a week.

However, certain people are more likely to very poorly. These people are advised to have a flu jab each year.

The flu jab is offered free to people who are at risk. This is to make sure that they are protected against catching flu and getting more poorly.

You can get a free flu job if you

are 65 years or older
are pregnant
have certain medical conditions
are very overweight
are living in a residential care home or long stay
receive a carers allowance or you are the main carer for a elderly or disabled person who’s welfare is at risk if you were to fall ill
are a healthcare worker with direct patients contact or a social care worker
