Listening to Parents Event

Sarah Smith is working on a new project. She would like to invite parents whose child or adult has a learning disability to talk about their experiences at an event at Nottingham University.

This event is on the 9th March 2018 at Nottingham University. Parking will be free, refreshments will be provided and travel costs will be reimbursed.

Celebration event video

The Learning Disability Partnership Board held a Celebration event in June 2017.

A video has been made to show what a fantastic day everyone had.

Media Club

What: A ‘Media Club’ for Disabled Children & Young People aged 14-25 years old

When: Wednesdays 4pm-7pm for 6 weeks

30th August 2017 – Introduction

6th September 2017 – (film, video)

13th September 2017 – (photography, instagram)

20th September 2017 – (audio, podcasts)

27th September 2017 – (social media channels).

4th October 2017 – Review

Why: Supporting club members to access, be safe, understand and get involved with the creation of media. This will include, filming, photography, podcasting and social media.

Where: The West End Centre, Andrewes Street, Leicester LE3 5PA.

The Media Club will consist of 3 x 45 minute sessions:

4.15pm – Stories: look at the news, comment, opinion etc.

5.15pm – Memories: this is me, this is my life, this is what I like doing etc.

6.15pm – Skills: learn a new skill or improve their current social media profile etc.

Mencap Health Campaign Event

Mencap event on the 20th September 2017 at the Brite Centre, Braunstone Avenue, Leicester, LE3 1LE at 10:00am to 2:30pm.

This event is about being a part of Mencap’s Health Campaign. The Health Campaign wants to look at what health services are in your local area. People with a learning Disability, carers and supporters can come to the event. Mencap Know your Rights Event

The Mencap  Know your Rights event is on the 23rd August 2017 at the Brite Centre, Braunstone Avenue, Leicester, LE3 1LE at 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Leicester Stars got Talent Event

Loubon’s Legacy, Children with Brain Tumour are a charity in Leicester. This charity raises money to support potential new treatments being found to cure brain tumours. For more information please see the Loubob’s Legacy charity letter.
